Two previously independent apartments are now connected by a timber staircase. Serving both as a structural element and the support for the floor, the staircase is central to the design. It divides two bedrooms on the ground floor and subtly separates two distinct areas on the upper floor. A second metal staircase leads to the attic, interwoven with a beam, a railing, and remnants of a wooden floor transformed into a mezzanine. Along with the exterior access that connects the two floors, these three staircases create a free and non-hierarchical circulation.

After a thorough analysis of the existing structure, superfluous additions were removed, restoring the spaces to their original generosity and revealing the woodwork. For new interventions, raw materials were used, which will acquire a patina over time and are easily recyclable. The acceptance of the plurality of materials, with their potentials and imperfections, allows for a sensitive reading of the existing structure. The additions and cuts do not seek to dominate but rather to reveal and open up the space.
